I peeked into The Bird Bar
On a wet spring afternoon
A burned out buzzard nodding along
A robin and meadowlark
Bitched about their lives
While a finch and woodpecker
Got busy tossing dice
The cardinal tossed a bluejay
Out the door after i walked in
Hummingbirds buzzed throughout
Their speed against the din
A murder of crows
Around the pool table
Ravens rarely came about
Preferring country to city perches
A red-tailed hawk dove in
And that’s when it got weird
A condor, herring, and crane
Shuffled together as friends
But an owl was selling acid
Falcons with blow
Turkey in the grass
Feral roosters methodically pecking
A golden eagle watching all
Ratting out to a bald eagle
Who ran off all but
Me, a warbler, and a wren
A burned out buzzard nodding along
