The brother said I need Jesus today
As I walked on by wishing a good morning
In a neighborhood I ain’t own
Where I still wish to all a good day
The brother stood beside my way
As I crossed his path in the dawn
In a neighborhood in which I am no son
Where I still spoke to him my way
The brother listen close I say
As you walk with me up the sidewalk
In a headspace I respect and reserve
When I can show you where I need to stay
